Community Conservation Centers, Inc., Berkeley Recycling wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family of Antwon Benson (Rico). He was shot and killed while visiting friends in Oakland on Thursday, August 22nd, he was 38 years old. Rico was a cherished member of the crew for over ten years. The entire staff and crew of CCC is in shock, and will miss him dearly. Rico was a very special person whose life ended way too early.
Jeff Belchamber, CCC’s General Manager, expressed that “Rico was one of the most well liked individuals and very much a part of the CCC family, a person I have had the pleasure to work with for over a decade. Rico and I were working together on a project the last day of his life”.
Dave Johnson, Operations Manager, cannot believe Rico’s tragic death. “This is still sinking in, this is a big loss to CCC and most importantly his family”.
Bruce Valdez, head of the workers union, IWW, and CCC have set up a Go Fund Me so that funds can be raised to help Rico’s family. Rico is survived by his wife Donna of twenty years and two children and his brother-in-law Reggie Page a Senior employee at CCC as well as many other family and friends.
