Drop-off Recycling

For quick and convenient drop-off of recyclables, come to Berkeley Recycling on the corner of Gilman and Second Streets in Berkeley.

How to:

  • Safely enter the gate and turn immediately left then pull into a parking spot that allows traffic flow through the area.
  • Please be aware of forklifts and vehicles moving about the facility.
  • Please ensure you dump your materials in the appropriate bin or area.
  • If you need assistance offloading your materials or have any questions get the attention of a recycling aide wearing a safety vest.
  • Look at the Materials Preparation page to learn how to prepare your materials. Please prepare materials before you arrive at the drop-off.

Materials that may be dropped-off for recycling

Paper

  • Cardboard
  • Mixed paper
  • News paper 
  • Magazines and phone books

Metals

  • Aluminum cans
  • Aluminum foil and clean pet food cans
  • Aluminum scrap
  • Scrap steel
  • Large and small appliances (no refrigerated appliances)
  • Tin cans
  • Bi-metal cans

Glass bottles and jars, sorted by color

  • Clear
  • Green
  • Brown

Note that window glass, pyrex, drinking glasses cannot be recycled at Berkeley Recycling.

  • #1 PET narrow-neck bottles
  • #2 HDPE narrow-neck bottles

Household Hazardous Waste

What is it? Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) are products that contain harmful chemicals which, if put in the trash, may harm people or the environment.  HHW may contain corrosive chemicals that can cause burns, as well as toxic metals like cadmium and lead. Selected HHW can be dropped off at Berkeley Recycling.
