WHO: Community Conservation Centers, Inc., (CCC), operator of Berkeley Recycling at 2nd and Gilman, Berkeley.

WHAT: Possible temporary one day closure of Buyback Program this Saturday, September 28 due to equipment repairs at CCC’s Berkeley Recycling processing facility. Facility equipment repairs are expected to be completed on Friday, September 27 with no impact on the Buyback program. CCC will make every effort to maintain Buyback services this Saturday, September 28 without interruption.

BACKGROUND: CCC is the local nonprofit company that has operated the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at the City of Berkeley’s Second and Gilman transfer station location since 1982. CCC sorts, processes, and markets all City commercial and residential recyclables, as well as recyclables collected by UC Berkeley and the City of El Cerrito. CCC also operates the BuyBack, drop-off, and universal waste programs at the Berkeley facility. CCC recycles approximately 16,000 tons of recyclable materials per year and is dedicated to helping the City reach its Zero Waste goal.
